Curriculum Framework:
A
school curriculum framework provides details of the
school’s alignment of the teaching and learning
processes. It promotes a curriculum that maximises
the learning of all students by recognising and
celebrating diversity whilst engaging students in
intellectually challenging learning experiences. It
ensures our school is clear about the knowledge &
understandings and ways of working we value and
those we want students to demonstrate. It requires a
focus in each classroom in every lesson, every day
on developing a deep understanding in every student
of the key concepts in each learning area and on
using their particular ways of working.
It
defines this school’s approach to four key areas;
Ø Curriculum Intent
Ø Pedagogy (teaching strategies)
Ø Assessment (approaches and techniques)
Ø Reporting
(standards & systems)
The Greenlands State School Curriculum Framework is designed
to meet a number of EQ directives;
·
Provide a curriculum that maximises the capacity for
all students to achieve the Essential Learnings &
Standards and the new National Curriculum.
·
Monitor and assess individual student achievement
and evaluate it against standards (school, state and
national).
·
Implement statewide assessment procedures and
administer national assessments.
·
Regularly report to parents / carers on student
achievement and learning.

Assessment Plans
The school has a whole school assessment plan that
links all key learning areas and shows what is
expected of students. This plan is closely linked
with our Curriculum Framework and School Based
programs.
To help students become better organised (and as
information to parents) we provide an assessment
planner for each term. This shows what work is due
when. This document is sent home at the beginning of
each term.

Homework:
Homework
is an important part of our academic programme.
We believe that homework is just another aspect
of the partnership that exists between the home
and the school in the process of providing the
best education possible for your child.
Homework
is encouraged as it:
a) gives the
child another opportunity of doing individualised
learning
b) develops work
and study habits
c) allows children
to catch up on or practise school work
d) allows parents
to see the standard and content of work performed
at school
e) encourages children
to think that education is a lifelong process and
does not exist solely in a school.
Our
homework programme is structured and easy to follow.
It provides the basis for students to learn skills
that will of benefit in further education. In order
to better assist students and their families, our
school has produced a booklet that gives hints
and guidelines about homework routines.
Please contact the school if you would like a copy of our
homework guidelines.
